Obituary of Paulette B. Burris

Paulette Bailey Burris was born January 5, 1952 to Willie Thomas Bailey Sr. and Ozelia Jackson Bailey in Brownsville, Haywood County, Tennessee.

Paulette was educated in Tennessee and Illinois. She attended Tennessee State University and Bryman Institute for Medical Assistant. She worked as a receptionist for Jenner and Block in Chicago, Illinois. Her most loved job was parenting Justin and Camellia Burris.

Paulette accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Brownsville, Tennessee. As a youngster she was a member of Woodlawn African Methodist Episcopal Church in Chicago where she was a member of the YPD, the Sunday School and taught Vacation Bible School. She continued her Christian journey as a member of Lee Chapel AME Church in Nashville, Tennessee.

Paulette was married to and divorced from John Burris. They are the parents of Justin and Camellia Burris.

After a lengthy illness, Paulette Bailey Burris went home to be with the Lord about 10:00PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in the presence of her daughter and her son.

Paulette leaves to mourn her passing a loving family: Son, Justin; Daughter, Camellia Elaine; Granddaughter, Jaden Kiara; Sister, Elaine Bailey Johnson; Brothers, Willie Thomas ‘Bill’ (Stephanie) Bailey and Reverend Cedric J. (Patricia)  Bailey Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
