James M. Harrison, D.Min., Executive Minister
12 September 2019
To: The Family of the Late Mrs. Quinester Knox Calloway
Dear Minister Deirtra Calloway Coleman and Family Members:
The Apostle Paul writes in the New Testament, I Thessalonians chapter 4:13-18, and instills hope in people who have experienced loss because of death. We are sorry to learn of the loss of your mother and relative, Mrs. Quinester Knox Calloway, but call you to hope so richly abundant in God’s Word. We are subsequent recipients of these words today. Paul’s instructions are first that we sorrow not. We must then believe that Jesus died and rose again, and those who have died or fallen asleep in Jesus will be brought again by God to rejoin us someday soon. The dead in Christ will rise first at this event. We who remain will join them on the clouds and in the air with Christ.
Mrs. Calloway served faithfully with the Board of Directors of our denomination to include a tenure as president, 1995-1997. We are better because of her faithfulness and service.
We are to comfort one another with these words recorded in the biblical text. So then, the leadership and member churches of the American Baptist Churches of the South commend you to our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, and leave these words and truth informing our hope that you may find comfort in them as we have many times before.
Furthermore, be it resolved that we also commend to God the spirit of Mrs. Calloway and give way to God having received her unto Himself.
In Christian Service we remain in Hope,
Respectfully,
James M. Harrison
