On Friday night, August 6,2021, Ronnie Lee Whitney, Sr, transitioned peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his beloved “Beth,” Larnice Beth Whitney by his side. He was the oldest son born to Carrie Whitney Pillow on June 29, 1948 Reverend Whitney’s ministry stretched beyond the walls of the church. He would help anybody. His tenacious skill in mediation and extensive connections throughout the city allowed him to be able to pick up the phone and call for resources and get results. As an executive board member and complaint officer, at the NAACP-Nashville branch, countless people saw their cases resolved. He leaves a rich legacy as he spent his life helping others. Rev. Whitney, leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Larnice B. Whitney; loving children, Alicia (Fe’Loy) Gibbs of Marietta, GA and Ronnie Whitney, Jr.; Charles Settles Jr.; mother, Carrie Pillow; sisters, Vanessa Hatcher and Sherre (Joseph Sr.) Bishop; sis-in-law, Valeria Horton; five grandchildren, the late Isaiah Gibbs, Sequoyah Whitney, Alexandria Gibbs, Ameena Ansari Whitney and Ameera Ansari; one greatgrandchild, Za’Nylah Martin; niece, Yolanda Mitchell; nephew, Joseph Bishop,Jr.; great nieces, Tanessa and Dionne Mitchell. Special devoted neighbor, Jessie (Angelica) Perez; devoted friends; Samuel (Forrestine) Cole, Joe Young, Gordon Larkins, and Charles Hopkins Please keep the Whitney family in your thoughts and prayers.
