Nneka Michelle Okafor transitioned from this life on Friday, September 3, 2021. Nneka was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Natha Okafor & Michael Okafor. She attended Metro Nashville Public Schools and graduated from Hunters Lane High School, Class of 2000. She was a member of Cleveland Street Missionary Baptist Church and she would often attend church service at Love United Missionary Baptist Church. “Naybaby”, as she was fondly called, loved to work and prided herself in having a strong work ethic. She was a Sr. Customer Service Representative at Cigna Health Springs for more than a decade and was often recognized by her peers for excelling in her department. She was a devoted mother and older sister. She enjoyed spending time with family ,friends, and especially her only son, Elijah. She often referred to him as “ her biggest blessing” and her love for him was unmatched. Additionally, she enjoyed cooking, shopping and decorating . She was light-hearted, loved to laugh and enjoyed music whole-heartedly. Nneka was very nurturing and giving. With the early passing of her parents, she assumed the matriarch role of the family and inspired everyone around her. She accepted Christ early in life and joined Cleveland Street Missionary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed fellowshipping with Love United Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Natha and Michael Okafor. She was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Bernice Bond. She leaves to honor her life and cherish her legacy: son, Elijah M. Okafor of Clarksville, TN, sister Nnena Okafor of Chattanooga, TN., brothers: Adrian Ekabua of Ripley, TN and Marquise Phillips of Nashville, TN. Her closest friends that were more like family: Mechelle Roberts, Natasha Searcy, Shaquita Thomas, and Charisse Ladd of Nashville, TN. She had one Godchild, Makenzie Patton, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Public Walk Through will be held Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Lewis and Wright Funeral Directors. Visitation with the family will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the Robert E. Lewis Memorial Chapel of Lewis and Wright Funeral Directors. Celebration of Life service to begin at 12 Noon. We ask that all family and friends in attendance follow all COVID-19 and Social distancing guidelines in efforts to keep everyone safe. Masks, temperature checks and social distancing will be required of all guest in attendance at all events. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
