Obituary of Martha Ruth Blackman

Martha Ruth Blackman, affectionately called “Cissy” peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Martha was born on January 19, 1950. She attended private and public schools, St. Vincent DePaul, Rose Park, and Cameron High School.
Cissy is preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth Hicks; Father, John Henry Hicks; Birth Mother, Clara Nesbitt; Daughter, Leticia Ruth Blackman; Grandson, Deago Blackman; Twin Sister, Mary Hicks Boyd Wynn (Colene); Niece, Tekoa Artrice Boyd Thompson; Sister, Grace Thomas; Brothers, Ronnie Baber; Larry Nesbitt; and a devoted Sister-in-law, Mother Geraldine Greer (Blackman).
Martha Blackman affirmed her belief in Jesus Christ at an early age. She joined Friendship City of Grace Church, where Elder Frank Stevenson is the pastor. Later in life, she joined Triumphant Church, formerly known as The Church of Jesus Christ (COJC), where Bishop Fred Matthews is the pastor.
Cissy loved her family dearly. She had a beautiful smile, a humble heart, and a giving spirit, she would help anyone. She was such a good person that she chose to rear her three great-grandchildren after the death of her daughter Leticia.
Martha Ruth Blackman is survived by her son, Minister Carl (Shavanda) Blackman, Jr; sister, Connie Kirkland (Swainsboro Georgia); Foster sister, Mary Fisher London; Brother, Kenneth (Barbara) Nesbitt, (Flint Michigan); Devoted Ex-Husband and dear friend, Elder Carl (Ann) Blackman Sr.; Devoted Grandchildren, Sherry Davis (Lorenzo Morrell), Carl Blackman, III (Bitty); Anthony T. Davis, Le’rondra Blackman, Johnathon Blackman, Vontae Blackman, Cierra Scott, and Kierra Scott; Devoted sisters-in-law, Minister Mildred Osteen Bledsoe; and Carolyn (Joseph) Crutcher; Great grandchildren, Santiana (Buttercup), Ly’ahna, and Deago Blackman. Devoted nephew, Jeffery Williamson; Devoted cousins, Gloria Bell, Delores Howse, Attorney Joy Kimbrough, and Sandra Drew. Devoted friends, Barbara (Carl) Jackson, Lugene Bradley, Mary London, Ruby (Dan) Fletcher, and Dale (Tere) London. A host of other family and friends.
