Obituary of Eric L. Simmons, Jr.

Eric L. Simmons Jr. affectionately known as “EJ” was born October 26, 1993 in Memphis Tennessee to Eric Simmons Sr. and Kimberly Goodman. EJ went on to join and play for the New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville, TN under the leadership of the late Pastor James C. Turner Sr. and later joined the Pleasant Green MBC where Dr. Christopher E. Jackson is the pastor. EJ played drums from the age of 5 with his father at various churches, in the National Baptist Convention and sometimes just for practice. As a young man and while in the Music City he also traveled with and accompanied several groups, choirs and bands in town and across the country. Music wasn’t his only talent as he played football from Junior pro up through High School, he was a gifted Barber completing courses at the Nwani Barber School and he was a professional painter training to be a contractor. Eric L. Simmons Jr. transitioned from this life to the next on the morning of October 1, 2021 and he leaves to cherish his life his Mother Kimberly Goodman, Father Eric L. Simmons Sr., Step-mother Stephanie Halliburton, four brothers Darius Reed, Eric L. Simmons III, Elijah Simmons, Jeremiah Clark, two sisters Kharyss Clark and Khalifa Clark; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, several musicians, singers and close friends. Since EJ confessed his belief in Jesus the Christ and accepted him as his personal savior he is now resting as one of his favorite songs assures the believer in Christ to be kept in “Perfect Peace.” Please remember the Simmons and Clark families in your thoughts and prayers.
