Mrs. Myrtle Lucille Tolliver was born in Charlotte, Tennessee on August 11, 1922 to Clarence and Ophelia Larkins. Myrtle was educated in the Public Schools of Dickson County and graduated from Dickson County High School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert James Tolliver, Sr. on May 25, 1950. Mrs. Tolliver was employed at AVCO Industries for 12 years. In 1983, she became a home healthcare nurse with St. John Home Heath and St. Thomas Home Health until her retirement in 1991. Affectionally known as Lucille, Cille, Mama Lucille, Madea, Granny, and of course Mama, enjoyed many interests. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement and local elections, gardening, handy crafts, sewing and traveling to many locations such as, Atlantic City, New York, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Cincinnati, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma and traveling with her husband on golf tournaments. At a very early age, Myrtle accepted Christ in her life and was a faithful member of Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church and the New Faith Baptist Church where she served on many committees which included, Willing Works and Past President of the Usher Board and Treasurer of the Mothers Board until her health begin to fail. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert James Tolliver, Sr., son, Robert James Tolliver, Jr. and great-granddaughter Takesha Shelton. She leaves to cherish her memories to her daughter Barbara Anne Harrison, son Charles E. Tolliver, step-daughter Bobbie Jean Howard, devoted family friend Mr. Edward Jenkins; grandchildren, Constence Davis, Bobby Wayne Shelton, Sherl Sykes, Clifford Shelton, Debbie (Gary) Mence, Zina Howard, Sherlock (Jenny) Harrison, Jr., D’Arvria Harrison O’Neill and Allegra (Josh) Gsell; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
