Hattie Mae Reese Hunt was born, February 16, 1939 in Brierfield, Alabama, as the youngest of nine siblings to Reverend William and Ada Craig. A sensitive child, Hattie was very close to her parents and siblings. She easily matriculated through school and enrolled in Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education.
After graduation, Hattie moved to Buffalo, New York as her older sisters invited her to join with them in the great migration North. She started her career as a librarian and then taught special education in high schools and summer school programs for several decades changing many lives. Hattie received Bible studies and accepted the Seventh-day Adventist Message in 1973 being very active in choirs and Bible teaching. Hattie retired from teaching and took up her next mission of service as a missionary who taught and preached in India, Romania and Kenya. She was an adventurous spirit and traveled several places in Europe alone. Hattie spent her final days in Nashville, Tennessee with her children enjoying her grandchildren and the love and respect of her church.
She leaves to mourn three sisters Bertha Cottingham, Aubanese Poole, and IV Salter; three children, Davacenia Trieste Adams (Harmon), Fernando Francois Hunt (Dhariana), and Raphael Pierre Hunt (Alicia); Eight grandchildren, Solomon Excaliber Adams, Amanda Priscilla Elaine Adams, Shekinah Rain Adams, Kia Niel Hunt, Asia Nitara Hunt, Fernando Francois Hunt, Jr., Courtney Wreh (Ben), Ashley Monique Ford and Alayna Simone Hunt; and one great grandchild, Thomas Kayden Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and people to whom she has led to Christ.
