Obituary of Brenda Joyce Robertson

Ms. Brenda Robertson peacefully transitioned from this life on Monday, March 7, 2022. Brenda was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Benjamin and Irma Johnson on September 17, 1940. She was the third of four children. She is a graduate of Alabama State Laboratory High School and Alabama State University with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Brenda started her professional career as an Elementary School teacher. Upon moving to Nashville Tennessee with her family she became the Lead teacher at Gordon Memorial Head Start Center. She eventually left the field of education to become a social worker. She worked as a social worker for many years at Vanderbilt and Metro Housing. She was a faithful member of Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church for years as well as Metropolitan Interdenominational Church. Her final membership was with The Temple Church where she so enjoyed the teachings of the Senior Pastor Rev. Darryl A. Drumwright. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Earl and Irma Johnson, her brother Benjamin Franklin Johnson Sr., and her two sisters Alene Vincent and Creola Valentine. She leaves two loving daughters Angela Overton (Rutherford), Jennifer Robertson; two grandchildren Lauren Overton, and Lawrence Overton (Brooke); and one great-granddaughter Kamryn Overton. A dedicated Sister-in-Law Frances Johnson, special cousin Tony Scott, and close friends Vinnie Taylor and Carolyn Davis, and a host of loving nieces and nephews
