Ruth Ann Gilliam of Nashville, TN departed this earthly life on May 2, 2022, at the tender age of 78 years old, surrounded by her loving family. God called his faithful servant home and said job well done. She was born on July 6, 1943, to the late Emma Haynes and Will Horace Haynes in Franklin, TN where she was raised until moving to Chicago, Illinois and later Nashville, TN. She graduated with her diploma from Pearl Cohn High School. She was married to the late Othar Gilliam Sr. in the 1960’s and they lived together and raised 3 children in Nashville, TN. She later raised her 4 grandchildren after the passing of her daughter. Ruth Ann was a member of Hicks Tabernacle Baptist Church. She worked at St. Thomas hospital until she retired in 2016. Ruth Ann was a very strong, dedicated, independent, sassy, selfless, and beautiful soul. She cherished her family and embraced every moment with them. She enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends, discussing her tv shows, word search puzzles, games on her phone, and sharing her facebook recipes that she always wanted to try. She was always the type of person to welcome anyone with open arms. Ruth Ann was the true definition of love and had the biggest heart with a personality that would light up any room. She is preceded in death by her mother Emma Haynes, father, Will Horace Haynes, husband Othar “Po O” Gilliam Sr., daughter, Shelia Annette Gilliam, Granddaughter, Destiny Waters, Great granddaughter, Miricale Annette Gilliam, siblings, William A. Haynes, Van Lee Haynes, Diane “Sue” Haynes, and Shirley Brame, Mother-in-law; Ida Cliff Gilliam, sister in laws, Johnnie Williamson and Elizabeth Wilson, brother in laws, Ernest Gilliam, Robert Gilliam, Issac Gilliam and Thomas Gilliam. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories: Her Brother, Henry Clay Brame Jr, Sons; Marcus (Juwanna) Haynes and Othar “Rick” Gilliam Jr. Grandchildren; Deandra Green, Lakisha (Danny) Begley, Montavius Gilliam, Ra’Quan Gilliam, Quantasia Gilliam (Matthew) Hassell (, Myeisha Gilliam, Jessica Grant, Rashad Waters, Travis Waters, Rick Waters, Great grandchildren; Takahia Harris, Shedrick Green, Makennah Hassell, Makali Hassell, La’Niyah Waters, Jordan Waters, Sky Waters, Za’Riyah Waters, and Aria Waters and host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Please keep the Gilliam and Haynes families in your thoughts and prayers.
