Obituary of Kennedi Ellana Jewell Covington

Kennedi Ellana Jewell Covington was born in Nashville, Tennessee on January 3, 2005 to Lord Stanford Covington and Kathryn Ligon Covington. She graced the world with her beautiful presence until June 17, 2022 when the Lord whispered sweetly in her ear and called her home.  

Kennedi was a bright, passionate, and loving young lady. She was a student at Hunters Lane Comprehensive High School, where she was an active member of the student body, participating as a member of the HLHS band and the JROTC program. Kennedi was an avid music lover and could recite any song or jingle of a catchy commercial as early as a toddler. She played the violin in middle school and transitioned to the trombone at Hunters Lane. 

Kennedi loved spending time with her siblings, cousins, and best friend. She was an avid animal lover and wanted to own an animal sanctuary one day. She was preparing to spend her Summer interning in Atlanta and preparing for her Senior year of high school. Upon graduation, her dream was to join the military and become a veterinarian.  

She accepted Christ at an early age at Lee Chapel AME Church, under the leadership of Rev. Edward L. Thompson. She was a member of the Y.P.D, Usher Board #2, and the Children and Youth Choir. She attended Sunday School regularly and participated in the Youth Bible Study Group.  

Kennedi was preceded in death by her father, Lord S. Covington and her grandparents, Thomas H. and Jewel W. Covington.  

Her memory will be treasured by her loving mother Kathryn Ligon Covington; Brothers: Kristopher Blair and Jamont (Destinee) Lavender; Sisters: Anissa (Darnell) Cross, Teneoda (Rodney) Yarbrough, Zakiyyah (Gary) Lott and Sydney (Laquanda) Covington; Grandparents: Henry C. and Ella Ligon; Aunts: Tiffany (Mark) Brown, Betty Tisdale and Gertrude (Stanley) Herndon; Uncles: Charles Ray Covington and Tetric L. Johnson; Great Aunts: Bonita (Nelson) Glover and Vivian Braden; Great Uncles: Buford Braden, Stephen Braden, Robert (Tanuverne) Ligon, Lewis (Dellcenia) Ligon, James (Ivory) Ligon, Ray (Barbra) Ligon, Clifford (Christy) Ligon and Terry Ligon; Devoted Cousins: Mark Brown Jr., Braden Brown, Jordyn Brown, Toya Pye, Brionna (Michael) Polk, Aliyah Pye, Landon Gooch, and Brielle Polk;A host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins; Best Friend: Daijordan Bowens; The Miller and Patten Families and her Lee Chapel AME Church family. 

Kennedi will forever be cherished by her family and friends. The memory of her beautiful smile and sound of her infectious laugh will carry us on the toughest of days. Although she is gone from our sight, she will always remain deeply in our hearts.
