Obituary of Katherine Leona Duff Bowers

Katherine Leona Duff Bowers was born in Nashville, TN on September 4, 1938. She was the fifth child born to the late John Herman Duff and Genieve
Greenlaw Duff. Katherine went peacefully to her heavenly home on Friday, August 26, 2022.

On September 20, 1954, Katherine united in Holy matrimony to the late Robert Louis Bowers, Sr. to this union seven children were born. Katherine accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Greater Bethel AME
Church she was a faithful member until her health declined. Katherine was very active in many organizations at the church including the Trustee Board, Stewardess Board, Ida C Duff Sunday School Class and the Meals on Wheels Program. Katherine volunteered every year at Vacation Bible School helping prepare meals. Katherine had love for music, she was a member of The Greater Bethel Choir, TN Conference Choir and Pearl-Cameron Reunion Choir. Bowling and golf were two of her favorite sports. She bowled many years in the Greater Bethel Bowling League and was a member of the Par Busters Golf Club.

Katherine began her education in Nashville Public School System and graduated from Pearl High School. She worked many years in Sales and Customer Service. She was also the co-owner of Bowers Janitorial and Bowers Dry Cleaning and Laundromat. Katherine retired from the State of TN as a Supervisor in the mailroom. She is preceded in death by her two sons Kenneth and Gerald Bowers and great-grandson Jamal Crawford. She leaves to cherish her memory two loving daughters, Carla (Joe) Boleyjack and Sandra Church; three sons: Pastor Robert (Lisa) Bowers, Sr., Ronald (Mattie) Bowers and Maurice Bowers; siblings, Gwen Fowlkes and Clara (Willie) Sales, Albert (Mexie) Duff Lauren, Leroy, John and Rudolph Duff (deceased); Sister-in-law; Joyce Duff. Twenty-two grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Extended Family Chereta (Liddon) Woods, Taneka and Cody Crawford and Valerie King, Exie Crawford (deceased), Betty Duke (caregiver); A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
