To the Savoy family,
My sincere condolences to you for the loss of such a quiet yet magnanimous individual! Mr. Savoy was my physics teacher, and I only took my physics courses from him because he was so dynamic. He lived & breathed physics and brought it to life for me. He and I would talk about physics and all aspects of science often and sometimes while he was eating his peanut butter and onion powder on pumpernickel bread sandwich for lunch…he was special.
I love science and I know it is primarily due to one of my favorite professors Donald D. Savoy.
I’m now a business owner and a drone pilot and my biggest baddest Drone is named the Savoy after one of the most impressionable instructors I’ve ever had in my life.
Thank you so much for sharing him with me .

My condolences to the Savoy family. Mr. Savoy will be missed by so many people that crossed his path. I am so sad that I will never be able to tell him how he influenced my life. I met Mr. Savoy in 1966 as a freshman math major at TSU. I learned so much from him. I took every Physics course that I could if he was teaching. I lacked only a few credits from having a major in both Math and Physics. He taught me photography on the weekends. He taught myself and others the joy of learning different things. Mr. Savoy was also a pioneer Toyota owner. He knew that those were cars of the near future. I remember we walked to the parking lot behind GRE and he added an electronic component to his Toyota to boost the ignition system. I often wondered what kind of great things he would have done in industry. I think his accomplishments of teaching and preparing so many hundreds of people at TSU was much much greater accomplishment. I will remember Mr. Savoy, he was a wonderful person, one of kind.

Donald DeCoursey Savoy was one of my mother's two first cousins.
I didn't know him well, because I grew up in California, but about eight years ago, I interviewed him about himself and his mother. After that, we exchanged emails.
Don was very kind and open with me. He also shared his regimen of supplements and encouraged me to buy a Tesla, as he was a pioneer Tesla owner.
I admired Don's lifestyle and values. I will miss him.
Respecfully,
Cyd Fairfax Mathias
