Q: What was Loretta's favorite recipe?
A: My grandmother had a lot of recipes. but the one that I remember the most is when she taught us how to make bread I remember her telling us you don’t have to have fancy ingredients to make something so simple and she was so right. The bread was amazing and delicious and always hot and anytime we were having big family dinners she made some.

Q: How did you meet Loretta?
A: I meet my Granny; (Loretta) through my parents!
Sometime in June of 1992 I was introduced to her. While growing up, as oppose to alot of my cousins, I however didn't live in Nashville area, but that never stopped me from seeing her almost every month of my childhood. I can remember in the 3rd grade when I went to go live with my grandparents due to my parents in transition of moving. I still remember eating oatmeal with raisins almost every morning right after our daily worship. Granny was more than a grandma to me. A grandma, mom, life counselor, teacher, and sometimes even a bank. I am thankful to receive throughout my life, her love, her guidance, her spiritual advice, etc. I remember her for always being super passionate about God, Christian education, and living right and healthy. Although she will be missed by many!, I know there will be a day that I will see her again.
-Until that day

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Loretta?
A: One thing I know about my grandmother is that she loved, and loved hard! She was full of it. It didn’t matter what someone had been through, what they had done, or even was currently doing. She was always a mom, grandma, teacher, evangelist, etc… but above all, a FRIEND, to anyone who needed one.
I love you granny, and can’t wait to see God’s love continue to pour out of you, when I see you again.

Q: What will you never forget about Loretta?
A: My story about Mrs. Loretta Freeman, my mother-in-law, consists of one who made me feel like a giant. We would laugh, pray, take small rides in the car, and talk. She would encourage me to keep moving forward.
When I would visit her, she would fix my favorite food. She intentionally knew how to make me and others feel welcome. Her family was important to her. Her way of smiling, loving, caring, and showing affection to her children, grandchildren, and especially her son-in-law was priceless.
One of the most amazing relationships between my mother-in-law and me is the relationship we developed as individuals in being positive, encouraging, and supportive in all our interactions. My mother-in-law made all she came in contact with feel so important that one would think he or she was her favorite person. Her soft heart and willingness to treat people with kindness compelled her to help those in need.
.
Few people have achieved greatness and are leaders within their rights. Often time, they are celebrated because of the work they have done and the people who look up to them. It is, for this reason, that I celebrate this great leader, Loretta Freeman. A legend she was!

I met her in the early part of 2013 but before meeting her in person I already heard a lot of good things about her and the Freeman family while I was still in the Philippines. She never met a stranger, she exemplified God’s love to eveybody she come in contact with.I felt her love and care the moment I met her and it helped a lot since I am thousands of miles away from home. I am grateful to God for the times I spent with Sister Freeman and they will always be remembered .Looking forward to the day when I see her smile again ❤️❤️❤️

If one understands the love of Jesus Christ,Sister Freeman’s character exemplified His character of love and compassion as close as humanly possible. She never met a stranger and she made all feel like part of the Freeman Family, which is also exemplified by her husband Elder Freeman and their children. Simply stated,”Sister Freeman exemplified the love of Jesus “.She went to sleep and we will that smile again.

Q: How would you describe Loretta to someone who had never met them?
A: To describe my wife Loretta to someone who had never met her, I would share that to know Loretta was to love her. She possessed many qualities that I loved. First, she was a virtual woman. Her mind and her ways were committed to God, and nothing or no one could deter her from following His desire for her life. Loretta never sought recognition for herself. She always wanted to glorify God.
It is no secret that Loretta loved helping others. Her love for others was rooted in her desire to see them fall in love with Jesus. This love was on a spiritual level, and it included her dedication to helping others financially, providing counseling, and more.
For over 20 years, Loretta was an educator who loved her work. Teaching children to gain knowledge in academics was important to her. But more importantly, she wanted each student to leave with the knowledge and desire to serve God.
As a pastor's wife, she possessed the Godly characteristics others could model. Assisting me, she played the piano for church services, evangelistic meetings, prison ministry, other outreach programs, and family worship. She also enjoyed playing for pure enjoyment. Loretta also worked for the salvation of souls as a Bible worker for several tent efforts.
Loretta enjoyed spending time with her family. This included her sisters, brother, in-laws, biological and "adopted" children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and me.
Loretta intentionally ensured that her children and grandchildren knew and understood God's love, including supporting each with receiving an Adventist Christian education. Falling in love with Jesus was her desire for all.
These are a few of Loretta's special qualities. She will always be loved and will surely be missed.

Mrs. Loretta Y Freeman
The only mother I ever knew. I didn't really know how special I was until after my twin sister had passed away. One day momma came to me; I guess she could sense I was going through something; and she said this. You know I love you right? I didnt give birth to you but I chose to go get you and your sister to love you like my own, so you would have a chance at eternal life. That jas stuck with me all these years. And I hope to one day make heaven my home so I can see her and hopefully my sisters, and my brother in heaven.
Love you and miss you momma.

How did you meet Loretta?
Honestly, I do not remember our first time. I bet she did though. It was back in July of 1980 something and for some crazy reason, she immediately LOVED me! I hear that was the type of person she was. Like this kind lady would take care of me, let me live with her, buy me clothes, cook me food, and even went as far as teaching me how to read! I don't know why she gravitated to me, maybe it was because she knew my mom, who knows!
Anytime she would finish a conversation with me, she would end with “Now you know I love you, right?” Crazy! All of this love after meeting me once! I have never met another lady since that would do all of this. What an amazing woman…my granny!
What was one of your favorite qualities of Loretta?
One of my favorite qualities was how determined and rooted she was. When she said something, she believed it and nothing could deter her from it. She was determined to make heaven her home and to get as many people to get there with her as possible. She was determined that her grandkids knew Jesus by gifting us bibles with our names engraved in them for Christmas, the bible cassettes, teaching us “Prayer is the Answer” and many songs about Jesus.
What three words best describe Loretta to someone who had never met her?
Three words is hard! Especially if you knew her. So here is my attempt: Loving, Determined, Granny
What will you never forget about Loretta?
There are sooo many memories but I will stick with only one. My granny was a fighter. As long as you had her in your corner, you were going to overcome anything. There were times as a kid when I would tell my granny that something had happened and she would be like “Aww naw, uh uh. We gon' to fix this!". As soon as you heard those words, you might as well get suited and booted for war because she was not going to stop until the situation was remedied. For example, it was this one time that my brother and I were staying the summer with her and she had gone to run some errands. While she was gone someone came into our yard and stole my brother’s bike. When she got home we rushed to tell her what happened. Sure enough in true fashion, she says "Aww naw, uh uh. We gon' to fix this!” And that she did. She told us to get in the car and we went riding to find this “young fella” (her words). When we did, she rolled down her window and instructed the boy to ride back to her house. Going 5 miles an hour, she followed him back to the house to make sure he didn't take off. I really don't know what she would have done if he decided to change it up midway. Maybe he knew he was dealing with one of God's people and he ain't want no smoke that day. When he got to the house, she invited him in (kids don't do this), gave him a bible study, prayed for him, and THEN took him out back to pick another bike for him to keep. She was NOT playing! She got to witness, my brother got his bike back, and the boy got a new bike. A win, win, win!
What was Loretta’s favorite recipe?
I don’t know if it was her favorite but it sure was mine! She made some AMAZING spaghetti! I haven't had any as good since. She also made some really good bread! She even taught us how to make our own bread!
What was Loretta really good at?
Making a dollar stretch! Like that right there in itself is a miracle. This was like literally a “feeding of the five thousand” type of miracle. With my grandfather being a pastor and her a teacher, eight kids, and tons of grandkids, this was nothing short of a miracle. She should have been hired to be some company’s Chief Financial Officer with the financial decisions she was making.
Other things she was good at were witnessing, playing the piano, teaching, and training up her grandkids in the way they should go.
Describe where Loretta worked and what they did.
She worked for Jesus. Her side gig was teaching. She loved teaching! She had to because when I would come to visit during the holidays, it was just like being in school! I would be so frustrated thinking I was going to get a break and then get to Nashville and she was READY! But looking at myself today, it paid off!
Where did Loretta like to travel?
I’ve seen pictures of her travels to many places but never really got to get an answer from her. So I know her children and my grandad could probably answer this better. Sorry to disappoint anyone else. But my answer is Aldi. My granny loved this place! I guess because of having to feed 15 grandkids and their parents, outside of Sams, their pricing was pretty good. She would have so many boxes because she was NOT paying for bags. I just remember ALWAYS having to go to Aldi with her. It was such a buzzkill as a kid because we didn't want to go grocery shopping. But I can just hear it now, her saying she is going to run to Aldi and will be back soon.
I would also say that maybe going to South Africa would be on the list because I remember her talking so highly of it when I told her I was going to Dubai. She told me that I should add that to my list of places to go. She even gave me a few things to do when I get there.
Did Loretta have any pets?
My granny has had birds and dogs. Now, she did not go out and get them for herself, oh no, even better, she inherited them from her kids who bought them for their kids.
What did Loretta like to do in her free time?
Sleep. My granny could catch a nap real quick! I used to think it was wild, but I believe it was due to the fact that she would be up early in the morning, like 3 or 4 am in her prayer closet. After spending hours in there, she would get things done around the house. She would be everyone's alarm clock by playing the piano and singing really loud. By the time 10 am came, it was like she had worked a full shift, so I guess that is why she would nap often.
Ok my real answer: Outside of spreading the Gospel, I believe my granny had a passion for natural healthcare. She would always be growing plants (Not the illegal ones y’all! Let me clean that up real quick) that had healing capacities, and have all these books about how to treat yourself the natural way. She would be on point with it too because whenever we would be sick, she would reference her books, and make us some “Granny Green Stuff” or some other concoction and we would be “healed”.
What will you miss most about Loretta?
Everything! Her cooking and morning wake-up calls via her singing and piano playing, even though at 7a when you trying to get a few more minutes of sleep, you don't feel as happy about it. The long talks she would me that ended with her giving money and telling me not to tell anyone else (and it wasn't $5 either, she didn't come to play), her spending quality time with us! That is hard when you have your own kids and then all of us grandkids. We all got a chance to know her individually.
I will miss trying to tell her a joke or be funny and she would ruin it by saying “aww naw, that don't make no sense”. I would be like COME ON MAN! I’m trying to be funny! So many other things to note but I will just say, I will miss everything about her.
She was more than just a granny. I looked up to her so much that I would often tell my mom that is what I expect when I have kids. Nothing less.
Loretta Young Freeman was nothing short of AMAZING!

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Loretta?
A: Margaret(Bonnie)Freeman
One of my favorite qualities of Mrs. Loretta Freeman(Mama) was being a true christian. She let me stay with her when I did not have a place to stay. She did not know me that well because I had not met her son back then. She was my Bible worker. She was a true person you could rely one. She put God first. Because of her I was baptized and joined the church. I am still active in church and I am her daughter in law. I love her and truly miss her.

Q: What will you never forget about Loretta?
A: Granny was a true angel on this earth. Few people possess the considerate, unselfish, and loving heart that she had.
As one of her grandchildren, I can say throughout my life, she was my teacher, my doctor, and my financial advisor, but most importantly she was my evangelist. Being at her house after school and during the summers, it was her number one priority to make sure we, her grandchildren, were learning more about Jesus and how to share it with others! My younger memories of reading was the bible, my younger memories of memorizing was of scriptures.
I am successful in all aspects of my life because of my granny's influence in my life. I am thankful for her sacrifices, her care, concern, and her love with everything that she has done for me.
I will be forever grateful and blessed that she was my grandmother.

Q: What will you never forget about Loretta?
A: Loretta Young Freeman is my mother. I will never forget her love for God, family, work, and others. My mother intentionally sought the Lord for wisdom, guidance, and strength. She was indeed a woman of prayer.
Momma loved her husband - our dad. She supported him and was by his side in pastoral ministry. Together, they raised eight children and helped to raise 17 grandchildren and more.
Momma loved her family. She would do whatever it took to ensure that her children and grandchildren were well cared for and received the best education - Adventist Christian Education. Although costly, momma sacrificed to ensure her children, grandchildren, and other children received an education that would prepare them for service in this world and the world to come.
Momma's love for her children extended to her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. She treated them as her children. Momma also called other individuals her children and treated them as such. Hence, we called them our siblings.
Momma loved her job as an educator. During her years as a teacher and principal, she made it her mission to prepare her students academically and steer them in the right direction. She believed that if she prepared students academically but not spiritually, she would have failed in her God-given assignment. After over 20 years as an educator, momma focused her attention on preparing souls for the kingdom as a Bible worker. Her soul-winning gifts shined greatly.
Momma loved helping people. I used to think that she was obsessed with having money. Momma wanted money for her birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, and other occasions. However, I realized it was because she wanted to help others. Yes, momma used her financial gifts to bless others.
I witnessed her buying food, clothing, and other items to help people in need. There were times that I would visit my parents, and one or more people were temporarily living at the house. Momma had given them a place to stay.
Momma was a woman of her word. If she said it, you could believe it. As a child, I did not particularly care for this virtue because if I got into trouble, I knew the outcome. However, when I became an adult, I realized how important it is to have honesty and integrity.
There is so much that I could share, but there is not enough time or space to share who my mom was and the legacy she left. I pray to continue in her footsteps.
My mother, Loretta Young Freeman, was truly a woman beyond compare.

Q: What will you never forget about Loretta?
A: She is my Momma! I will never forget the Love that she poured out to everyone! She had a heart to serve and follow God, no matter the sacrifice. When I think of momma, I think of her giving heart. She gave her time, attention, finances, comfort, and anything that was needed by anyone. She would give whatever she had to help others. I'm grateful that God gave His son, Jesus who gave his life so that momma will live again! I miss her and love her so much! I can't wait to see her again!

Q: What will you never forget about Loretta?
A: While I know that Sister Freeman ain’t missing God where she is, I will NEVER forget what she misses the most here and that is the honorable Pastor Freeman. As there is a difference between a story and an adventure, I will render one of the few adventures I've had with the earthly love of her life.
When I was very young Pastor Freeman and I were riding in his big mothership Lincoln when I looked over at his gas needle which told me that the car was starving to death. I never knew there was life on the negative side of a gas gauge that clearly read “E”. I looked up at him and he smiled at me with the expression telling me that he sees what I see. He said something about the lord but I was thinking that this ain’t the pulpit....This is the Lincoln. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he had the hook up with the big G, but after a few tortuous miles I began to have PTSD from previous butt whippings so I reminded him that my dad told me to be where he was at a certain time. He mentioned something else about God and still my ears went blind. I figured after what seemed like forever that I am in a Lincoln Continental and just these seats almost made the but whippings worth it....ALMOST I said. So we finally made it to MY EXICUTIONER Mr. Mack Chambers and my dad looked at me while I was trying to plead my case by saying something about God like Pastor Freeman did. Now guess who ain’t trying to hear about God and for the life of me I couldn’t figure why Pastor Freeman was smiling when we should have been at the gas station rather than at the church? Hindsight years later allowed me clarity to think that CLEARLY there was something that needed to be fixed on the Lincoln but I was too panicked to realize that my dad was a mechanic that Pastor Freeman used often to fix whatever was wrong with his Lincoln.

Q: What will you miss most about Loretta?
A: If asked, what will I miss about Sister Freeman, the first thing that comes to mind is how rhetorical that question is as her goodness and her greatness is still here with and within all of us. It too sheds tears.
I miss who we would have been if she had only stayed.
I miss the real libraries that would still be here today.
I miss real strength and goodness that has gone away.
I miss a human that said what God meant and meant what God says.
I miss an untapped vital part of us that with her went away.
I miss bragging to God about one of His masterpieces He created.
I miss a general in this war we still wage.
And now that she is missed indeed, I miss knowing the fitting words to say.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Loretta?
A: If anyone that knew Sister Freeman knew numerous traits that exceeded goodness, but she had this way of speaking with ANYONE, especially youth, which began by sincerely acknowledging that one person in a way that you knew she was paying attention the entire time. I can't remember a time when that acknowledgement didn’t graduate into a low throaty chuckle and evolved into a unique full-on laugh if one was worthy. If you were at fault, she would help you fix it and if you did good, she was the perfect finish. It only took that laugh to complete your efforts and you knew you could carry on.

Q: How did you meet Loretta?
A: I, (Mack Willie Chambers Jr.) have never told ANYONE this, but I first met Pastor and Sister Freeman in a dream that surgically detailed our introduction in a small church (Ephesus SDA of Hattiesburg MS.) our father (Mr. Mack Willie Chambers Sn.) took us to while aggressively trying to find solid ground for his desire to not only reach God but finally settle in and within God's way for he and his children's life.
I never told anyone of this bizarre introduction of Pastor and Sister Freeman for reasons one would justifiably assume. I may have worked within the psychology field but revealing that powerful dream would surely have made me a prime candidate for residency.
I clearly saw in the dream Pastor Freeman at the pulpit spittin fire while Sister Freeman played piano to his right with a disciplined welcome on her face and you all know how sometimes dreams can be as I knew there was a congregation but my dream only allowed me to see those particular two, "THE DEVISTATING DUO".
