Obituary of Aneka Renee Womack

Please share a memory of Aneka to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Aneka R. Womack was born in Nuremburg, Germany on December 4, 1980, to Willie T. Womack of Greenville, AL and the late Carolyn D. Womack of Prospect, TN.

She transitioned from this world during the early morning of Thursday, April 27, 2023. Aneka loved being involved with her church and it’s Sunday School Program.

Aneka professed her life to Christ and the church on Easter Sunday at the young age of 5 while attending services with her loving mom and aunt. It was during this time her aunt Eusie helped Aneka dedicate  her life to service.

She served in many capacities within the church. She served as an Acolyte and was a member of the Guiding Light Club. One of the things she enjoyed doing was participating in Sunday School with her Aunt Eusie, and the Meals on Wheels Program where she served and assisted until she became to ill to continue.

Throughout her life, Aneka demonstrated a remarkable thirst for learning and education. At an early age she was enrolled in some of the finest local elementary, middle, and high schools. Her pursuit of higher education saw her attending Lipscomb University and Middle Tennessee State University in pursuit ofher undergraduate degree(s). She continued her pursuit of even higher goals and enrolled at Vanderbilt University in their School of Medicine program where she excelled and achieved her goal, earning her PhD in Neuroscience and Psychology. It was in this field of study that she learned the details of the disease that would take her life. She realized that this was God’s way of preparing her for this long journey. She moved along this path, following his footsteps, unafraid, because she knew that he would walk with her to the end.  Aneka was a diehard Tennessee Titans fan that spent most of her adult life rooting for the Titans and participating in events in support of her favorite team. She was an avid sports fanatic who collected memorabilia of her favorite players from the NFL, MLB, and the old Negro League.

Aneka leaves behind to celebrate her life, her father, Willie T. Womack (Patricia), a loving and caring aunt, Eusie Bell, who has been a major part of her life, especially after the passing of her mother; her brothers Brandon (Heidi) Escalera; Willie II (Alexandria) Womack and Jonathan Womack, as well as a host of other family and friends.

The Best

“God saw you were getting tired, And the cure was not to be.
So, He put His arms around you, and whispered “Aneka, come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best!”

WE WILL SURELY MISS YOU!!!
