Obituary of Charlie E. Shelton

Charlie (Eugene) Shelton was born June 26, 1940.  He was born to the late William Clifford Shelton and Louise Jane Shelton.   He departed this life on Wednesday, May 16, 2023, and he was the fourth of five siblings. 

Eugene graduated from Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, Tennessee.  He was very active in High School as he played in the band, and he was in F.H.A.  Eugene continued his education at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Eugene moved to Nashville, Tennessee from Lincoln County in 1960.  He never married, but he worked several jobs in Nashville, Tennessee.  Eugene touched many people with his affectionate laugh. 

Eugene accepted Christ at an early age and when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, he joined Ebenezer AME Church.  When Eugene joined Ebenezer AME Church, he sang in the BC&M Mass Choir, he sang with Bobby Jones and Singers, he also performed several duties within the church.  He attended church until his health begin to decline. 

Eugene retired from the Metro School system after 33 years of service.  He worked for Exxon part time for 20 years after retiring from the Metro School system. 

Eugene enjoyed being an Uncle and a Great Uncle to his nieces and nephews.  He was especially fond of his great niece, Jackie Shelton-Muratovic.  Eugene was very giving and a kindhearted person. 

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, William Clifford Shelton and Louise Jane Shelton; brothers, William C. Shelton and Rev. Dr. Joe Kenneth Shelton, Sr.

Eugene leaves to cherish his precious memories brothers, Robert E. Shelton Sr., David Shelton; wife to Robert Shelton (Loretta Shelton) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
