Deacon Barnes was a lifelong member of Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacons Board for over 60 years until his health prevented him from serving. Deacon Barnes served together with his brothers the late, Robert St. Clair Barnes and John W. Barnes on the Deacons Board for many years. They along with  the Barnes Family were members of what is called the Una Connection. Watson Grove was a little country church that originated in Una, Tennessee and this family were very active in the membership.
