Samuel H.M. Wingfield, 39, passed into eternal life on Monday, January 1, 2024 in St. John’s, Florida. Samuel was born November 6, 1984, in Nashville, Tennessee to Dr. Shirley Rankins Wingfield and Mr. Oddie James Wingfield. In addition to his parents, Samuel leaves a devoted wife, Mrs. Nichole Tomlin Wingfield, a brother, Alton Maurice McNair, and two sisters, Valerie D. McNair Kennedy, and Naia Wingfield Morgan. Samuel became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. James C. Turner.
Samuel was educated in the public and private schools of Nashville, Tennessee, including Kings Lane Elementary School, University School of Nashville (academic scholarship and basketball), F.H. Jenkins School (academic awards and basketball), Whites Creek High School (Freshman Basketball Team, Band Drum Major), and Martin Luther King Magnet High School (played on the baseball team and graduated with honors, 2003). Samuel graduated from Tennessee State University in 2008 with a degree in Biology and played saxophone in the TSU Aristocrat of Bands.
Samuel taught in the Metro Nashville Public Schools for a year before entering the United States Army as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Specialist. Samuel worked with the Department of Defense United States Navy as an Industrial Hygiene Technician, GS7. In 2018, Samuel achieved his master’s degree in Florida from Capella University, specializing in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Samuel became a member of the Masons, Merrians Grand Lodge of Florida; Eureka Lodge #58 Jacksonville, Florida, in August 2023.
