Williams Stewart and Preston Elliott Stewart, Sr., was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina April 12, 1930 died on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He is survived by daughter, Jocelyn D. Stewart, Cincinnati, Ohio; (pre-deceased by daughter, Alitha Janelle Stewart, and son, Preston E. Stewart, IIl); Bettye G. Otey, sister and spouse, John H. Otey, Jr., John H.Otey, Ill, nephew and spouse, Dessie D. Otey; grandnephew, John H. Otey, IV. The family lived in Greenville, S.C. during his early youth and, then moved to Nashville, Tn. where he enjoyed his teen years living on Tennessee State University campus. He resided in Hendersonville, Tn. After living and working at Lane College in Jackson, Tn., and in the Greater Cincinnati Ohio Public Schools as a teacher and guidance counselor. Preston was a 1949 alumnus of Pearl High School, T.S.U. (B.S. 1956, M.S. (1959), served in the U.S. Army, was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity for 66 years and a 32nd Degree Mason since 1956. He was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Preston was an entertaining D.J., enjoyed sharing his beautiful tenor singing-voice, delighted in hosting dinners and cook-outs, and was always ready to lend a helping hand with much enthusiasm.
